“Go… wherever the Lord Leads”
“Barak said to her, ‘If you go with me, I will go; but if you don’t go with me, I won’t go.’”
(Judges 4:8)
As being studied, the judges in pre-monarchial times of the Bible are the leaders chosen by God to deliver the people of Israel. They also represented God because God was always with them because He was the One who raised them up. This passage depicts the dependence of Barak to Deborah, the only woman judge in the History of Israel. Barak had a great confidence that if Deborah will accompany him in his plan and go with him in the battle; he will succeed because he also believed that God is with them. And as we read the whole passage, he became victorious because God led the way for him.
In my devotion with this verse, I can relate it to myself in which sometimes, I forget that I need to go where God leads me; that I need to go on my journey with God beside me, not noticing that I was not in the right path anymore… I was lost! And all I needed to do is to remember where I got the wrong way and go back to the right track. And there, I found God, waiting for me to accompany me again on my journey.
In our lives, we sometimes think that we can do something with our own; we can go wherever we want; or in other words, we do something in our own way… forgetting that we are traveling along a path wherein God should be there, leading us. All we need to do is to remember God again and ask Him to lead us on His way… because His way is the best for us. For all our plans, hopes, our dreams, our ambitions, and our future… let us go wherever the Lord leads… Just follow Him!
